5 AM Wake Ups
Y’all asked for it…so here it is lol. My early morning ritual: A thread.
First let me start with where this is even coming from. Yoga teacher training has been teaching me a lot about myself. One of those things is that I am really fucking good at making excuses for reasons I don’t wanna do something or can’t do something 🤣🤣. Every day, I am supposed to do a variation of a yoga practice, breath work and journaling. Joke was on me though cause at the end of the day, I found every reason I could to not do those things. So I had to shift somewhere, or else I was not going to be successful in the long run.
I normally would get up 6:15,which would give me just enough time to shower, kiss my family and hit the road. At least once a week, I was getting up at 515 to take a power yoga class. I noticed my productivity starting to dwindle, along with my focus and dedication. I read an article about the “5 AM” club. A group of people that wake up at 5 AM a set number of days a week , but with intentions. Journaling, exercising, meditating, etc. It sounded intriguing, but 515 seemed more palatable lol
The first two days sucked. Hard. But by Friday y’all I was ready to take over the world. By just adding an hour to my mornings during the week, I’ve unlocked a path that leads to mindfulness and productivity, and I’m not turning back. Here’s some tips of you want to try it:
You ain’t got to get up at 5. If you normally get up at 7, try 6 AM. Set an intention for your extra hour.
Get👏🏾your shit together 👏🏾the night before👏🏾👏🏾 Your work clothes, your work OUT clothes. Your lunch. Your breakfast. Have it ready.
Do. Not. Hit. Your.Snooze. Button. Get. Up.
Pick a routine. I burn incense, practice yoga for 20 minutes, sit quiet for 5, do a daily tarot reading, and journal. All of that takes about 45 minutes.
Give yourself a break. If you’re sick, the kids had tennis/soccer/swim meets and you just can’t, don’t. Find the time the next day.
You gotta get sleep. Matter of fact I’m about to take my head to bed right now lol.
Im telling you, this has been transformative, and rapid pace. I’m more mindful, more productive at work, more engaged with my family, and I feel better. If you try it,drop me a line at email@example.com and let me know how it works for you.
